Nothing and All

Nothing separates, my darling,
Nothing holds you back.
All I have to offer,
You say that others seem to lack.

You say you always need me,
You beg me to stay near.
But still you hold me off at bay,
Protected by your fear.

I've asked you for so little,
Just love, and trust besides,
You act as though I ask that world,
Or that you tame the tides.

I had the world, I gave it
To you, my precious one.
The ocean tide could not compare,
To that which left my son.

I gave it all, my sweetest gift,
My son, I gave to you.
The love I have to offer now,
It's yours if just you'd chose.

But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water.
